The psychology of resilience

Some time ago I read that resilience is similar to going down a stream with a kayak. You may encounter rapids, boulders, turns, fast or slow currents. When kayaking in “white water”, perseverance, confidence in ones abilities and trusted companions are all very useful things. If you really don’t feel like it, you can also get out of the river and rest on the shore, but to get to the end of your trip, you have to get back on your kayak and continue the descent!
